First-time Homebuyers Seminar and Cocktail Party

Are you considering purchasing your first home? According to the National Association of Realtors, in 2013 38 percent of all homebuyers bought a home for the first time, and that amount is expected to increase in 2014. If you are starting to think about the purchase of your first home – or if you are already looking – you probably have many questions about where to start, what to look for and the home-buying process as a whole.

My team and I would like to remove some of the worry from the process, which is why we are inviting you to a seminar (and cocktail party!) that we are hosting on Wednesday, January 22.I have developed this seminar and invited expert speakers who have the first-time homebuyer in mind.

The First-Time Home-Buying Experience

The purchase of a home is a serious financial decision, and also a good investment. However, the process can be confusing, and at times overwhelming, especially from a financial perspective. In fact in 2013, 95 percent of all first-time homebuyers financed their home purchase.

I’ve invited several different guest speakers to take some of the guesswork out of purchasing a home for the first time – including representatives from the Siwiec Buyer’s Agents team.  Whether you’d like to learn more about what you can expect to pay, mortgage qualification or the role of a buyer’s agent in the purchasing process, this seminar is right for you.

Here’s a little bit more information on each of the speakers, and what they can offer you in the first-time home buying process:

Karen Haberer; Loan Officer – Premium Mortgage Corporation

As a loan officer, it is Karen’s responsibility to recommend individual loan applications for approval. During Wednesday’s seminar, Karen will discuss the pre-qualification process, different types of loans available, how to apply for a mortgage and what a buyer will need as well as closing costs and down payments.

Mark Gunther; Real Estate Attorney – Olver Korts, LLP

Mark will be discussing an attorney’s role in a real estate transaction and some of the costs associated, such as obtaining a survey of the property, transfer taxes, and ensuring there are no liens against the property that would hold up the closing.

Josh Bartolotta, Jason Ruffino and Nick Perlet; Real Estate Agents – Mark Siwiec Team

Siwiec’s Buyer’s Agent Team – Josh Bartolotta, Jason Ruffino and Nick Perlet – will share important information about what to expect throughout the home-buying process, including important considerations for before, during and after the transaction. The Siwiec team will be discussing all elements of the home buying process, such as pre-qualification for a mortgage, creating a buyer’s property search and the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), scheduling showings, writing and negotiation of a purchase contract, scheduling property inspections and ensuring contract deadlines are met, final walk-throughs, and a list of the “to do’s” as a buyer moves into their new home.

Even if you are not quite ready to buy, I can guarantee that you will leave this seminar fueled with useful information whether you plan to purchase your first home now or a few years down the line.

Space for this event is limited to the first 50 people who RSVP. RSVP by email at joshb.nothnagle@gmail.com. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served by local chef and caterer Lindsay Steinberg of Green Zebra Catering Company. The seminar is free and open to the public and will run 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at 80 Westminster Road.
